Unreal Editor 3.0 Long delay in selecting

Post by darkelf » Thu 21 Dec , 2017 2:44 pm

So I'm suffering from extremely long delay in selecting objects in game. When I zoom in as close as I can to the object that I'm trying to select there is little to no delay at all. My current hours of research has lead me to the problem being outside software enabling anti aliasing that causes these delays. Along with this they recommended setting vsync and Reducemouselag to off(already have this set correctly in unreal's config files)

So I reasonably established that Nvidia drivers are to blame(or the settings in the drivers)
-Running windows in safe mode, no delay in editor.
-Running editor with no drivers installed, no delay in editor(until it crashes due to lack of drivers about 2 mins into use)
-Running editor with Nvidia drivers as default config results in long delays in selecting things in editor.
-Removing all anti aliasing from Nvidia global settings and/or program specific settings and still long delays in selecting things in editor.

Specs:
GPU: 1060GTX
CPU: I7 950
Ram: 18gigs

I'm at my wits end, I can't figure out why this is still happening. I'm not sure if its just nvidia drivers are not applying my requested config changes or what. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was using a 8800 gtx with nvidia drivers prior to this with no problems. Just upgraded to a new video card (1060 gtx) and uninstalled prior drivers and put new ones on. Since then I have only been able to get ut editor to select things instantly only in safe mode or when no drivers exist other than windows drivers. I have also tried uninstalling nvidia geforce experience to make sure it wasn't causing any issues but no luck. My next step is doing a custom install of drivers and uncheck everything except for the bear minimum. Will report back after I complete that.

Yes, that is what I meant. Uninstall everything called "nvidia", extract files from package with drivers and apps, install driver manually in device manager menu.

So I have done the following:
-Completely removed drivers using www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr ... nload.html
-Downloaded nvidia drivers and just extracted the files with out installing.
-Went to device manager and found driver location from the above mentioned extracted files. Installed drivers.
-Tested out editor without doing any changes in nvidia control panel and still had extremely long delay in selecting actors/bsp
-Went to Nvidia control panel and set global settings to have all anti aliasing options to off or none and set vsync to off. Also set up config for unrealed.exe with the same thing no anti aliasing and no vsycn options. Still have extremely long delay in selecting actors/bsp.

I could possibly try and use a older driver version? Not sure of anyone else having issues like mine with the current driver... then again my problem is kinda unique.

Can you visually inspect whether the anti-aliasing is really turned off?

I get this also, but I just point my view away from any complex geometry that might be in the background (maybe not your fix Darkelf). Something that might take 30 seconds to show as selected might only take 1 sec with little geometry in the background. With respect I've only posted this because I searched and searched thinking that It might be my PC set up. Now it bothers me little.

Here is a picture. To me it looks like its off. So maybe something else is the cause.

Yah thats the same work around I'm using at the moment.. its not very suitable and extremely time consuming to have to constantly change view.
