Poll on Unarmed racing
So as the EMP poll is on, I've also decided to check what do people think about unarmed racing. The aim of this poll is to see people preference on rather "regular" maps having unarmed version, such as Aztec, MoonValley, Derby, ScorpionRace; and whether we should consider versioning other maps and add unarmed version. Trial maps (Blazing and WickedSick) are a different matter.

Unarmed races in my opinion are okay, but there's no way to prevent the players on the other team from winning. You end up hoping they'll mess up and fall off the platform or something.

I prefer unarmed, however I've grown completely bored of scorp maps recently.
Replacing scorps with flakrats in these maps could maybe add some fun + teamwork

i agree, i don't think there are any race maps with flakrats so it would be a interesting addition

You got my vote for unarmed. "Race" is race, not 'rape-all-pacifists-you-see'.

Re: Poll on Unarmed racing
I had this discussion going on in my mind already for a few days and came to following solution:
Case armed: repair points (team-based) where you can heal up your scorp (but you don't have a linkgun!)
Case unarmed: randomly activating traps all over the map (maybe some of them with triggering). These shall make the map more based on accidental winning and allow people who failed at first to catch up again.
Examples:
- EMP bombs exploding unpredictably, regular EMP function.
- fall-doors on trigger.
- Explosions
- knock backs or catapults (throwing you up in the air)
Personally I'd like to test out the idea with the unarmed version and see how it goes.

Does this not also open the possiblity of the 'random' traps hindering the players trying to catch up?Takeo wrote:Case unarmed: randomly activating traps all over the map (maybe some of them with triggering). The reactivation time for the traps would have to be set according to the time to reach it from the spawn point or whateveriRobot wrote: Does this not also open the possiblity of the 'random' traps hindering the players trying to catch up?
