Excellent Fail

Post by Fravec » Sun 06 May , 2012 5:09 pm

After my damned PC crashed while playing, it cleared my 'user.ini' and 'ut2004.ini'...
Can someone upload a 'user.ini' and a 'ut2004.ini', because it would take ages to reinstall, the CD is realy scratched.

The default one is created when you launch UT2k4 again.

I thought this too. I get this message :

Code: Select all

Your CD key appears to be invalid. You will need to reinstall the game and enter your CD key to fix this problem.

I already tried to change my CD-Key with the 'UT Reg Checker', but it doesn't works^^.

Hmm, then you'll have to reinstall it anyway.

You may want to check out 'testdisk'. it is a multifunctional software. if you didn't do much after the loss of the two ini's, you might get them back with it.

the reinstallation of ut however doesn't delete your collection of awesome staticmeshes, textures etc ;) so don't worry about deinstalling/reinstalling ut :)

Losing the files is not the problem. The CD is old and scratched, so it takes ages. But I'm reinstalling now.^^ Well thanks

It happened to me once, and fortunately I had kept an old copy of those files... But yeah, very frustrating.
Its all about the game, and how you play it
All about control, and if you can take it
All about your debt, and if you can payit
Its all about pain and whos gonna make it...

download a DVD ISO form the Internet works the same as an original. After patching to current version the CD check is removed joinha only thing you need is your own super duper legal key challenge)

installing UT2004 the fast way is to apply register
save as ut2004.reg or so

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Unreal Technology]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Unreal Technology\Installed Apps]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Unreal Technology\Installed Apps\UT2004]
"Folder"="d:\\install path\\UT2004[/color]"
"Version"="3186"
"CDKey"="your CD  key here"
"ADMIN_RIGHTS"="You need to run this program as an administrator, not as a guest or limited user account."
"NO_DISC"="No disc in drive. Please insert the disc labeled 'Unreal Tournament 2004 Play Disc' to continue."
"NO_DRIVE"="No CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive detected."
"TITLEBAR"="Unreal Tournament 2004"
"WRONG_DISC"="Wrong disc in drive. Please insert the disc labeled 'Unreal Tournament 2004 Play Disc' to continue."
"YEAR"="2004"
mot shure win7 64 has the same "Wow6432Node" as i do in win XP 64. this should not be ther ein a non 64bit OS
