Re: Decreasing playerbase
I've already said my opinion about many times that I'm seeing the constant changes and adding new content as a root cause for that, since it results with a lack of stability and players would eventually be unwilling to adapt their playstyles.Oska wrote:How about stopping to be a retarded troll and do something about it?

Re: Decreasing playerbase
The player base started dwindling when my interest in the game waned.
Coincidence?

Re: Decreasing playerbase
True, over the last fortnight the Freon server has been suffering from a low playercount, but before that the numbers have been fairly stable. Additionally, the INV server seems to have a high turnover of new players; the Freon server lacks this. In my opinion, this is because the game mechanics are too difficult for new players to understand. Within the space of their first session most don't work out how to change weapon slots, or figure out that you need to use Iron Sights to match the performance of experienced players - we usually don't see these players a second time. Perhaps we could implement a targetted message stating how to find the binds, or include a help section to detail how the mechanics work in game?
As for 'constant changes', I think the opposite is in effect; the static balance discrepancies are now being discovered and exploited, whilst luck and 'spam' are being inadvertently rewarded to the detriment of precision shooting. Many players are simply getting bored and frustrated.

“We humans do not understand compassion. In each moment of our lives, we betray it. Aye, we know of its worth, yet in knowing we then attach to it a value, we guard the giving of it, believing it must be earned. Compassion is priceless in the truest sense of the word. It must be given freely. In abundance.”

I would like to add that maybe to add another time instance to the bans like 45 day max for cases like emax and bombom. They are not bad players and 45 days is enough punishment for mining a teleport or camping a lift. At least is not in the same level as racism or other such offenses.... after 45 days they do the same, again other 45... they will get tired eventually, but we will not loose players that are fun to play with.

Other (experienced) players were just frustrated from the changes - you get used to a play style, then because of changes, it won't work anymore. And no, everything has eventually been changed, so one can't say it's because the style they used was OP etc.Earl_Vencar.:LLS:. wrote:As for 'constant changes', I think the opposite is in effect; the static balance discrepancies are now being discovered and exploited, whilst luck and 'spam' are being inadvertently rewarded to the detriment of precision shooting. Re: Decreasing playerbase
This is exactly how I felt and so I went back to the Race server. However upon learning about the different weapons, kill streaks and most importantly, the iron sights, Ballistic is so much better than the race server.Earl_Vencar.:LLS:. wrote:True, over the last fortnight the Freon server has been suffering from a low playercount, but before that the numbers have been fairly stable. I'm sure that players that prefer the assault maps will prefer ballistic to racing too. Maybe have a short YouTube video explaining what to do with a voice over from Gizmo?

Re: Decreasing playerbase
All this has been said many times before. Enjoy playing "decreasing playerbase" bingo:

- There are almost no bug fixes any more.
- There are few map improvements (CityOfThieves excepted).
- It's gone below the minimum threshold of 8 players.
- The Top Ten players rarely play.
- Many of us have periods of significant OVH/France micro-lag between 7pm and 10pm.
- The "ping compensation" is a POS that causes more problems than it solves.
- UT4 might be fairly playable online by winter this year, maybe.
- It's warm outside.
