My 2 cents.
1st, about situation. Imo, it should be understood, that what we have here, is not
just a server in the internet, but system, which consists both of server and players around.
And when general interest of players is down, its kinda hard to return it all back.
Just like relationships with friends or family. And i dont believe that its possible to
return 'good old times'. Only something different.
Admins had to be smarter long time ago, when downturn only started. Sorry.
We have an long list of players, who dont appear frequently online anymore.
just to name the few: xerx, KEEPEr_Rus, bombom, Pekaboo, Black, Tiadoro, enerchi, UiUi, spin, Checkmate, siskodagamma,
sol, Stradler, VolleyPoweR, wumwum, etc. Already 15 names. They were here almost every day.
They are lost for us i think. Did anyone was tracking how many players we were losing?
And due to what actions?
2nd. I believe, its simply necessary to start something different at the server. New kind of game.
New people. Something fresh.
I told it already many times. People is simply tired of ballistic Weapons. How many years its here?
People have grown up a little bit. Different interests, things to be busy with. Things which caused
enthusiasm, now its a burden.
3rd. Since people is the most important thing around, banning people to the left and to the right
is simply unwise. Especially banning core players. I dont believe that the strict adherence to rules worth
permanent banning. Maybe simply constant repeated 30-day ban will be more suitable?
4rd. Players attract players. So, banning one player could easily mean losing 0,5 of other honest player.
Total price of action: -1,5 players. Is it worth it? Ban 4 players, and you will lose additional 2.
Or maybe, factor is not 0.5, but whole 1.5? Or even 2? Measurements of objective situation could help.
5th. Think about that lots of players do not leave any traces on the server. They dont talk. But they are
very real, sitting somewhere on the Earth in their chairs. And their decision to stay depends on what they
see and think about all of what we have here.
6th. Maybe rollback to the previous state of maps will help? Even more. Try an experiment. Return everything
to the state of 2011. I wonder, how many players would return. Not very much i guess.
