Recent changes and map reports

Post by Azarael » Wed 26 Aug , 2020 8:47 pm

I've made the following changes to the Invasion server code:

Monsters will no longer teleport to your location when they lose target on you.

This is to prevent players from being too overwhelmed when fighting on open ground, and to reduce the need to camp in order to play.

Some monsters (some Doom monsters, for example) have the native ability to teleport. These monsters are not affected by this change.

Monsters are now capable of targeting your summoned monsters.

Previously, monsters would ignore summoned monsters unless the summoned monster attacked them directly. This has been rectified, to prevent players from standing idle while summoned monsters farm EXP for them.

There is now a positional check to prevent map exploiting.

Some maps have areas which can be reached by players, but which are not part of the navigational network that monsters use to find and attack you. Sometimes this is a result of terrain exploiting, such as on Highlander and Mountain Glen, and sometimes it's the result of there being areas not reachable under normal (non-Translocator, non-Jump/Feather) play. As of now, your position is checked by the Invasion server at intervals, and if you spend too long in an area which is not part of the level's navigational network and is thus not reachable, you will begin to take damage and receive the message "Return to the playable area!". You will continue to take damage, increasing in severity, until you return to an area of the level which is part of the network.

Some of the maps on the Invasion server do not have the navigational network correctly set up. On these maps, you may receive this message despite being in a valid, playable area of the map. Report these below and I will endeavour to fix them to be compliant with the check.
