Re: Random Weapons

Was thinking of 5/5 slots as random having the possibility, not 1/5.

Besides, I didn't think of it as a bad idea.

I think KS weapons are a positive and add to the gameplay, reducing the monotony of Assault Rifle A and Assault Rifle B. If it introduces a few more of them to the game, what's the issue.

One KS weapon (Peacemaker, for example) would do. What is a purpose of random weapon option if it doesn't make game more interesting and fun? Arguing that you may not use it if you don't like is childish. I cannot see any reason to use random weapon choice in current version - it will always be worse than my choice - except than to punish myself with non-optimal weapon set. Idea of randomness may be funny if you can get some kind of award in the game.

well on the one hand its just an additional option u can choose or not, if u dont like it or not, u are free to choose your normal weapons..aza is right..

The small bonus ( whatever it is) could balance some unluck with the random weps u get and i think its good and the game gets more interesting, because more different kind of weapons will enter the game, i guess >80 % of the players u know how to handle them, because of same weapon style and the way they play with them, not with random weps .= ^^

No, to choose random option there should be a reason and there is no one now, that's the problem.
Random weapon option may be a funny thing if everybody would be compelled to use it. Another fun may be cyclic random weapon (for everybody) - if you kill somebody, your weapon changes.
When only one person chooses it and there is no compensation it's simply useless.
I am not arguing to remove random option, only to make it worth existing.

At the moment the only appeal of using random is to artificially induce greater difficulty by running the risk of receiving sub-standard weapons such as A500 or AK490.

There by, I could just cut out the middle man and select these weapons myself. Random has no appeal currently. There is no enjoyment for using it. In a lottery, you enter because there is a chance of winning. Most of the time you are disappointed, but you keep playing because the chance of winning is still there. Random weapons at the moment has no chance of winning, no positive RNG element, that adding KS weapons would incur.

How about something like +5 adrenaline at each round start, for each weapon slot you have set as random. 25 adrenaline per round would not be game changing, yet you would still recieving something for attempting to use random weapons.

I am not fishing for random weapons to be overpowered. I'm just throwing my line out and hoping for some viability.

The purpose of the random weapon option is to give you a set of random weapons (sounds silly but is the truth). It was added on request of one particular player because he didn't want to scroll through the weapons list every time to change to a different weapon. This was the only reason Aza introduced random weapons in the first place.
Arguing that you may not use it if you don't like is childish.
Thanks for the compliments!
I cannot see any reason to use random weapon choice in current version
Don't use it then. :-P

I don't see your point. You can quite easily manually give yourself a non-optimal weapon set - even without random weapons.

Why would you need a reward for using that option? You also don't get a reward for e.g. picking a sniper weapon on a small 1v1 map or using double Xmk5 on Rail...

Why do you need justification for choosing a random weapon?

If you really need a reason, why not notify players if someone got a kill with a randomly chosen weapon? Gives you some sort of bragging rights which is about one of two possible reasons for picking it anyways, other reason being you just want a random weapon.

No problem. But it wasn't personal. It was simply a comment that level of arguing is going down to the point where there is no reasonable discussion.
Don't use it then.
I'am not using it but I would like to use it, that's the problem.

Hmm, don't you see it not only sounds silly, it really is. That's the best reason to change it. Look at it from above: more people wants to change that than requested it in original way.

Don't see your point. If I am choosing some weapon, I believe it is optimal (even if it isn't). With current random option my beliefs are quite different.
Why would you need a reward for using that option? You also don't get a reward for e.g. picking a sniper weapon on a small 1v1 map or using double Xmk5 on Rail...
Do not mix conscious choices with random lottery. Lottery you cannot win some award doesn't make sense.

Why do you need justification for choosing a particular weapon for ballistic weapons set? I would like to add bows and crossbows.
(It's not a mockery, I am just pointing that if something exists, there should be reason for this :)

Even this is better than nothing and would do for a start.
