The chat suffers from occasional spam outbursts already, and with Zounds it is going to get a thousand times worse. So no, thanks.

No point in forcing people to download pointless stuff and as it was said before, idiots will spam them (as some do with dixie horn in vehicles).

Yes, I, like everyone else, know about the ClientOptional flag, but what you've forgotten to mention is that ClientOptional packages which the client doesn't have installed or cached are pushed every single time a client connects. I'm not keen on hammering F10 every time a map changes or I reconnect for pointless shite.

My opposition to Zound will remain strong. I can't stress enough - Zound is *utterly pointless* and it's even more pointless if it's only active at the beginning and end of games.

But wait, on BW servers people already have to download a lot of stuff. Surely some extra 50 MB of zounds wouldn't matter

I think a lite zound pack in operation the whole game wouldn't be too harmful. You could just code a delay into it as you have with NV to stop horn spam.

Oh god that's an EXCELLENT point. I would have Zound on BW if it meant I could trigger a classic Flo rage.
