Re: Ballistic Bro Changelogs Discussion
Why would you wonder? Hiding inside/behind a shield and shooting through it with M75 while nobody else without M75/Longhorn can harm you is pretty unfair. Forces you to equip yourself always with a m75 or longhorn yourself just to get rid of that. But i admit that the new "only normal accessible roofs allowed" rule may balance that since there is no hiding anymore on places noone else can reach.

I actually agree with giZmo.
Aza you once said that needing to swap to HMC to counter other HMC users is not healthy for the game. There is no difference here to needing to swap to the M75 to beat other people camping in their shield huts.

You disagree with the concept of weapons countering other weapons and would prefer blandness?

Given you can't change weapons mid-round, yes. You have no choice in that scenario where you have no counter weapon but to die or leave the player and turn away.
Expecting everyone to have a weapon that permeates shields in their loadout just in case is a bad move.
If you reintroduce weapon swapping on the fly, I could get behind it.

So any more general solutions to the strategy rather than banning it outright?

Also I must point out, that you saying 'weapons countering other weapons' when both player A and player B would be holding an M75 in this cause is quite laughable.
It would be like Rock beating Rock in Rock/Paper/Scissors.

Re: Ballistic Bro Changelogs Discussion
Does the shield have a lifespan of sorts? I've never seen one be destroyed. Perhaps the introduction of a damage threshold of x amount or a time limit would negate the need of even considering penetrative weapons. But as Gizmo said, limiting the areas in which these shields can be deployed will help.
“We humans do not understand compassion. In each moment of our lives, we betray it. Aye, we know of its worth, yet in knowing we then attach to it a value, we guard the giving of it, believing it must be earned. Compassion is priceless in the truest sense of the word. It must be given freely. In abundance.”

Re: Ballistic Bro Changelogs Discussion
I remember the case in which Butch killed me with a cylo (firestorm or the other, dunno which) while I was in the shield so it can penetrate too.
As suggested Eurl, the best option IMO'll be a stock of HP for the shield (dunno how many). By the way, I don't remember if when we shoot an ennemy with a railgun while you're into the shield if the damage are reduce or not. If not, maybe reduce the damage if you shoot while you're in.
And if it's still powerful, maybe the shield should lose HP while you hit with a railgun when you're in it. Should be enough normally.

Shield really should have its own HP, or have damage to the shield transferred to the generator, with the generator only having, say, 250 HP and transferred damage being reduced by 75%.
Independent health for shield would allow for the possibility of shield being brought back over time.
Complicated breakdown of this scenario:
Shield has plenty of health, we'll say 500 as an example. When its health drops to 0, the generator has to recharge up to 100% before shields are back online, when its offline, the shield will recharge passively, say 10 seconds to get back up to 100%, at which point it will be back at full health. Hitting the generator with the wrench would add, say, 25% to the charge (possibly at expense of ammo), up to 75%, with the last 25% only able to recharge passively over time, so you have a minimum of 2.5 seconds where the shield will be down.
Shield health could recharge at the same rate as it takes to go back online, 10 seconds in this example to get to 500 HP, with wrench possibly able to bolster it back up to 75% by hitting generator. I would actually recommend wrench just boosts the heal rate for a duration rather than giving a huge chunk of health at once so that concentrated work can out-DPS its healing. Its a bit complicated, but I think having a completely impenetrable shield with only a couple specific weapons able to stop it is something to avoid.

Don't forget to upload a 500 side instruction manual for it's use.
