they just trick you by charging you more money for an already half eaten fruit ...

Well, if you have an iphone 4, the your original OS was 6.x. Suddenly the new updates appear, making your super fast iphone 4 look slow, and then iphone 5 appears. Slowly apps start being updated too. Then no app works anymore in any old software so you can not just use and old OS, as also all the apps update automatically. So if you have your old OS no app works, and if you update it to the new "compatible" OS version goes so slow is disappointing for the super fast hardware (not junk) you have. Then you have no choice but to spend another 700€ in the new not junk, because your old iphone is just junk. Also the software has blocked some of your hardware options, like making a wifi spot. The old phone has the same crap that the new one has. Of course there are some differences, but not such that you would change your phone each year due to the differences. Some more Gb of memory, and a bit faster processor and a bigger screen in case of the iphone 6. BTW faster processor and bigger screen spend more battery, so they put a bigger battery (same size, bit more capacity).
If you have an iphone 4 the latest OS version is 8.5, and after this one there is no more support. So your 2 year old phone will be obsolete next year. And what is the difference between 4s and 6? you basically could do the same in both... the only thing you can do differently is to show off
... so in conclusion: enjoy your icrap until the next one comes out...

Spoiler: iOS updates are completely optional and you can also 'downgrade' to a previous OS quite easily if the later one is unsatisfactory.
