Re: Aircraft in RACE maps
As I said above, I, along with many others, feel the Venoms acceleration (therefore mobility) is too high. You feel the Raptors acceleration is too low.
Rather than toys out of pram (no offense) and removing the Venom outright, just tweak the values to be in-between.

Re: Aircraft in RACE maps
None taken. I'm replacing the Venom with the Havoc. It's a stopgap for whatever's done next and since the Havoc lacks the two problem weapons of the Venom (lasers and plasma), the effectiveness of bobbing beneath the track is significantly reduced.
I would suggest looking at playercount-based factories, transitioning from whatever new vehicle is proposed (presumably a Raptor variant) and the Havoc for high playercount.

It pains me to see the model, and the effort gone into it, unused.

Re: Aircraft in RACE maps
I appreciate the thought, but it does still appear in Ballx and as an abuse vehicle, so it's fine. Once I finish fixing up the Rhino and dealing with the mirroring issues, I'll release the package at Epic Games and they can play with it.

Speaking of which, the Rhino could do with more usage.

Yeah, I've been working on it a little. Finally found some reference images of the cinematic version. Problem is that I can't think of much of a role for it.

Re: Aircraft in RACE maps
One to each team in the problem Venom maps, give it some kind of counter to aerial units specifically. Similar to how the anti-air Havoc was implemented, but better.
Yes, that must be it. A valid raison d'être!

Re: Aircraft in RACE maps
The main issues with Venom vs Bender:
1) It's very easy for Venom pilot to hit the Bender generally (just as it's easy for Bender to hit Raptor)
2) Darknight has a lot of ambush spots: places when the bender steers / is going to jump - in which the gunner has it hard because bender is suddenly changing direction
3) Lasers do too much burst damage (dunno if this was tweaked recently)
4) Finite shielding on the benders (insufficient on long tracks)
5) Regeneration (camp near obj end to get health and still guard it), Healing in base is also quite fast
6) Other Benders are just as deadly as Venom
7) Anti-Air Havoc rules: generally not understood by players
2) and 3) are pretty much coupled together, because you use lasers in such ambush attacks.
The current state of Venom is more like to be a fitting air vs air combat. So how about RACE-Yro?
btw. talking about Rhino - you intend it to be one man or two man?

Re: Aircraft in RACE maps
I'm liking the idea of a Rhino escorting a Hellbender to the objective. Tactical gameplay, in my RACE?
