This thread is going all over the place.

Coucounet was bringing attention to one problem "Change name abuse" then vaguely hinting to other abuse without elaborating on what they are.

So with that in mind like aza said

The ability to use it only when it is necessary is one of the qualities which is sought for an admin. Changename exists for use on violating nicknames and not as a toy to be used on everyone, with the excuse that some people consented and others were silent. Some people never comment and even if they did, using a majority opinion to justify any use of commands which serves no legitimate purpose, however trivial it may seem to anyone, is bad.

I'm pretty sure all the admins understand this and are expected to follow such guidelines. So yes changing someones name to a variation of "cry" without cause of violation of rules is abuse. Thank you for bringing it to attention. As stated before if you have an issue bring it up! Holding it into yourself and not speaking up isn't going to fix anything.

Side note:
These are forums. If you want to be taken seriously I suggest if anyone wants to address a problem or abuse of admin powers make your own thread about it and not hijack a related thread with your own agenda. This will cause confusion and usually end up being a topic that gets ignored. Along with this give details. Who, what, when, where and how. Its really hard to try and address a problem if you give vague complaints.

Clearly there needs to be a mechanism where players can report abusive behaviour from admins (in privacy) where an independent unbiased Super Admin can make a judgement call. That's called transparency.

Players will know that Admins are accountable too
Admins too will realise that with power comes responsibility and certain standards to uphold.

Like any form of hierarchical structure there needs to be clear distance between players & Admins to make this work right.

Any admin that can't do this & decides to act in a way thats 'unadminlike' should expect to not be an admin it's not rocket science.

to achieve this:

A page somewhere detailing Admin role & responsibility & what's expected from them.
A Super Admin elected to arbitrate
A page where users can post complaints to be reviewed by said Super admin
Instructions detailing a minimum expected standard of report for the users to fill in ( I woz abuzed by an Admeen) wouldn't be acceptable

In fairness to LDG (i've been around forums/servers/social media a long time) the culture here isn't too bad, there can be an underlying level of silliness on some part by people who should know better but it's nothing serious really.

Even if there were an unbiased member of the LDG adminship, it's meaningless if such a person lacks the power to make any decision stick.

At this point, I believe the only reliably unbiased member of the entire staff is bOnO.
