1. Internet marketing should be viewed not just as a way to sell things to people.
Its supposed to be viewed as an art to deliver things what we do to people.
Technology to reach them and to offer LDG game server.
2. Its not necessary to concentrate on "commercial" aspects of the IM. Costs,
ads, etc. Again, we simply need to reach people.
3. I dont think its wise to think that we are gonna get people to buy UT2004 etc.
I believe, there are lot enough people in the world, who were playing it years ago.
And there easily could be people who will want to remember old times and play BW.
4. When you do marketing, its necessary to think about people. Who like computer
games? Who is target audience? Where they appear frequently?
What websites they view? How many visitors are on those websites? Usually it works this way. You show ads to, say, 10 000 ppl,
of which 100 get hooked. They are yours.
5. Talking about about spammers, etc. I am not sure, that spammers is the only one way possible. Usually, there are lot of ways in life to get what you want. Perhaps, there are some cost-free ways.

Look, if people will be arrogant and not start backing off their ideals, then the playerbase will keep shrinking. Simple as that. The way how to get it back up is to use objective judgement (and yes, that includes also dropping all the mocking of the not so skilled players (such as comments about fun etc.), known as rule 3i on AS / Race).

I think the best thing you can do is ask the players on the server what they want. The ones who are loyal enough to come to the forum dont need convincing.

started playing 2 games lately, so if u hear to players, the things im writing down i dont like and are reasons that wont make me start playing active again. My things arent listed as a ranking.
- Put Longhorn into KS1, Remove Longhorn or reduce damage by more than 50% ( im not the only one complaining about it, and still feel raining clusters isnt the way we want to play or shot and wait, of c its not a bad weapon, but ppl complain so u must act.
- I miss the old Acid Pool and Michie

- Medical thingy which is KS1 now, i would put into granade slot with 1 thingy to use. ( not sure)
- Missing old maps like UHZ with a teleport and tunnels ppl loved the map, now its never been played. In general perhaps getting maps back like they been 1 year ago
- Displacing the weapon when u got hit by melee, still bullshit in my opinion, especially against low skilled players or slow players.
- Melee Damage by weapons shouldnt still be instakill, 100 damage from every site is still enough. Play with bullets not with melee !
- Getting back the SRS600, the reason "there is another wep like srs900" isnt an argument.

Yes, great ideas! Let's give skilled players easy access to G28s so they can run up to KS2 more easily, like in the good old days! Let's nerf the fuck out of the Longhorn simply because some people don't like it! Let's get Michie back with his acid pool, even though it was cheese and he's a sexist, moronic little shitstain, because lol xDDDDD! Let's remove any map with any semblance of gameplay and rotate UrbanHotZone[T] with andACTION, because nothing makes people quit faster than actually having to aim instead of spamming! Down with melee displacement! I should be able to beat melee every time just by hip spamming! Melee does too much damage as well, a weapon with 3 feet of range should never do much damage! And as for removing the SRS600, that was stupid - without that I can't run my SRS600/SRS900 double loadout, meaning that I only have to learn the recoil path of one weapon and the most overpowered one at that!
I don't know why I bothered explaining why these ideas are idiotic, because they are only stupid from a gameplay perspective... and it is becoming increasingly clear that nobody cares about that anymore - and perhaps they never did. If you like, I can rename BallisticPro to BallisticShit, upload the source code and let you fuck it up as much as you like.
If you want to fuck up every map and not just UrbanHotZone, you can modify the movement speed in the config options. When everyone's moving at 30% speed and is an easy target, finally the game will be acceptable to all

What we need IMO is to put some cool videos in Youtube that promote the server... and link them to other similar FPS games as Counter Strike or battlefield.. that may attract some new players...

The only reason you care that I edited my post is because part of it mentioned you as one of the reasons I don't bother to play or develop for this server anymore, and that's an intense source of personal pride for you. There is a cost to preventing those who contribute from dealing with trolls and sources of annoyance. This is it.

Ill just start dropping info here and there once the week is over. Whoever was going to contribute - better start doing it til we drown in drama. Videos, guides, pictures, cosplay, whatever. Balance is not the problem, complaining just became a habit for most. And the lack of players is merely a result of the absence of real initiative. I would struggle to find much info about the server even if i tried to. There are people out there who are looking for game like this, they just dont know where to knock. Put some doors around.

When the 10th of June comes, I should have some free time to deal with matters over here. I told Aberiu that I'd implement whatever he made, and so I shall.
