The remaining players don't exactly help themselves. I joined Sunday evening for a 2 vs 2 and found two minigun users, longhorn and a KS2 in probably the smallest, spammiest map there is ... motivation instantly disappeared.

There was a recent gathering with several crowded games in a row. We still have players checking the server once every evening, the problem is that they only join and stay if they see 6-8 players to play with. We are also getting 1-5 random new players joining every day. None of them stay for long, not even a full game usually. So, we are lacking two things: coordination and something that would hook the passers-by.
Second point have been discussed enough, ill just skip it. Now the coordination issue can be solved in a pretty simple way, we just need to choose the time and leave some announcements around. Even renaming the server to something like "LDG Ballistic Pro - Gathering at 9 EST daily" should do the trick. Well, maybe daily is too much, certain weekdays may be selected. Orbiting players will know when to check and play without baiting each other for hours in bot matches and eventually leaving.

Were they - dare I say it - playing the game the way they wanted to play?

If people don't want to aim - don't force them - just make sure dmg ratios are correct for hip fire. Despite others thinking otherwise, not everyone wants to come on and learn to be pro - some just want to play for fun.....


iRobot's original suggestions are not wide of the mark....

Just reporting having some nice crowded games on fresh maps today, with lots of thawing and healing. This thread is misleadingly depressing.

Got any good 3SPN-friendly maps? I have a few to put up from other servers if I can get my cache.ini to stop breaking.
