Re: Skill system punishments
If you keep the public skill menu, then make it more interesting.
Next to each players skill, show a +0.03 or a -0.03 (figures just an example) after each game, so you can see how they change.
You would see more change if only 3000 data is considered.

Yeah, it was a good idea to make the polls public so we know the troll votes.Azarael wrote:tfw Pab the pirate keeps voting in BW server polls

Re: Skill system punishments
Can't decide for a poll vote.
On one hand I would like to keep seeing everyone's skill level, but for the sole purpose of estimating the balance of the teams and if possible switch the teams, if it would be for example 5 x >6,5 skillers agains 2 >6,5 skillers in other team.
But this wouldn't be necessary, if there was a team balancer using / working with the skill of the players calculated in the background without anyone noticing. If there were, I would't instantly vote for "Don't show skill at all", since there are enough people that tend to only raise their own "skill" (as like farming EXP in an RPG), but don't consider their team at all.
I know I'm not the idolic team player as well, always single handedly running off by myself at the beginning of a round right into 5 enemies arms and such things, but I think I don't lie, when I say it is not because of the skill system and trying to be a hero all the time and farm enemies by myself, no, because I don't give a single f**k about that skill thing (apart from reason described at the beginning). It is just kind of my "playing style" and that's all.
I also know, you get skill points for thawing (not sure about healing?), but in comparison to "kills" it fades.
My guess is, there would be a little bit more of something like "team play" if it wasn't for players whose skill is (on of) the most important thing(s) to them. I might be wrong as well ...
So what did I wanted to say in the end ??? Ah right, to make it short:
Abstention from voting

Re: Skill system punishments
Well if it would be decided to hide the skill, it will happen when skill balancer is finished and online, not sooner. While most ppl that voted in the poll are for hiding it (5 - 8 atm. (not counting Donnie's trollvote)), it doesn't look like overwhelming result to me and so I'm not hiding it with the current stance.
