vctf

I just tested some of the vctf maps on the BW #2 server and there are several things I noticed:
- gamespeed is normal (if you don't carry a large weapon, e.g. HAMR)
- weapons picked up at lockers seem to be randomly chosen which is bad in vctf if you e.g. face a Manta and you only got a staff weapon from the locker
- it would probably be a good idea to limit the number of BW weapons in a vctf match (i.e. replace the old weapons by at most two BW ones)
- weapon inventory seems to be bugged, sometimes you lose all weapons (except sidearm and melee) when picking up additional weapons or reloading at a locker
- if you lose your weapons this way you can't pick up new ones until you die
- sometimes you only get weapons with one magazine and no additional ammo from weapons lockers
- G5 is too powerful - it is too strong and its basically a fire and forget weapon (in contrast to the old AVRIL)
- the same is true for the rail gun - you can destroy a Raptor with two shots easily
- link gun equivalent weapon is missing (you can't repair vehicles at the moment)
- auto heal is on (like in TDM or DM) - should be deactivated for vctf

Any slot 5 weapon will repair vehicles. A73, E23, HMC, Dark and Nova.

Will sort the rest out.

Also at least one map on #2 doesn´t work when voted and switches the server back to previous gametype. If i remember right it was RiverCanyon2 (i´ll prove when the server is emtpy)

wasn't it VCTF-HoldingTankRedux?

How about avoiding all the weapons locker problems by changing the gametype from pickup to loadout?
You could replace the slot 0 weapons (melee) by anti vehicle weapons (G5, X-83 Sniper, HAMR, Railgun). Melee weapons btw almost don't damage vehicles. They are only basically scratching the surfaces (4 dp or something like that). I had to hit a Raptor constantly for more than a minute to destroy it...

a few days ago we played vctf with a full server. Here are my opinions regarding vctf in combination with BW:

Weapons locker and weapon pickups now work correctly (you don't lose weapons as in the previous version). However, the problem still remains that due to the large number of different BW weapons, the weapons in the locker and spawned on the map are chosen randomly. This gives the different teams (at least on the map we played) certain advantages. For example, in the base of my team the AVRIL was replaced by the HAMR, while the other team got the G5. The HAMR is pretty much unusable against fast moving Mantas or Raptors, while the G5 is almost the perfect anti-vehicle weapon. Another example: in exchange for the usual lightning gun my team got the LS-14. In order to obtain the "real" sniper X-83 I had to walk to the enemy base. Speaking of the X-83, it is really overpowered in vctf. Since you only spawn with 100 health this weapon results in an instant kill (the X-83 seems to ignore shields). I couldn't test the railgun against other people but I would assume it has the same problem. At least it can destroy a Raptor with one single shot.
Another problem I encountered is the ammo spawned on the map. Just like the weapons it is chosen randomly and most of the time I got ammo for weapons I never obtained from any locker. I think it would be better to change the ammo pickup to the universal ammo which is normally used on DM and TDM maps in BW.

The biggest problem at the moment is the lack of a "normal" anti-vehicle weapon. On many vctf maps the AVRIL is not available in all lockers, so that the shock rifle is the weapon of choice against small vehicles, such as Raptors or Mantas in standard vctf. In BW the shock rifle is, however, replaced by weapons which are not suitable against such vehicles (especially Raptors). A possibility would be to exchange the shock rifle with the LS-14 and adding a small vehicle knock back to it (I couldn't test yet whether the LS-14 can already knock vehicles).

What we'll have to do is make a very specific configuration for VCTF, with respect to weapon replacements. LS-14 can replace shock as it's a similar role. I'm open to suggestions for the other slots - either single-weapon replacements or multiple weapons.

some obvious replacements:
AVRIL -> G5
Minigun -> M353, M925, XMV850 Mini
Shock Rifle -> LS-14
Link Gun -> E23
Flak -> M763, M290
Shield Cannon -> Riot Shield
Redeemer -> Redeemer

some less obvious ones:
Rocket Launcher -> M50
Lightning Gun -> SRS-900
Classic Sniper Rifle -> R78

There are, however, many popular BW missing (e.g. A73, M-46, staffs...)

If you want the LS-14 for replacing the Shock it will definitely need the same abilities or you wont be able to get rid of mantas or raptors.

LS-14 fires faster and deals more damage with double barrel (60 in comparison to 45) but also overheats quickly... I never had the chance to test it against Mantas though
