Some inconsistency with server

Around 22:20 22.11.2012 UTC I logged in to server, got some stuff from my chests, crafted something and went to tunnel, diggin a hole in floor in order to explore cave beneath. Alexd entered game about some time. We had some chat. Minutes later, server went down, and I wasnt able to reach it. Then I went to UT2004 BW server.

Around hour later, I checked in at MC server and suddenly, I appeared in my home. Although I was in that cave last time before the server fault. My inventory was same as it was in first time. But contents of chests had changed. They looked the way as I've took things from them. Hole to cave under tunnel had dissapeared.

Please, make sure that game state is consistent.
Either revert it to point in time as it was when I loggin in to server, or to point in time when server crashed.

To be more precise, I logged in first time around 22:00 22.11.2012 UTC.
Alexd joined around 22:20 22.11.2012 UTC.
Server crashed around 22:50 22.11.2012 UTC.
Second time, I joined around 23:30 22.11.2012 UTC.

What kind of chest was it? Regular one, one protected by Lockette, or an Enderchest?

regular with sign
and they were several chests in my home

I worry that those glitches extend not only on my area. Something wrong might happened with whole world. Perhaps, some time later, we still could encounter more unexpected bugs.

Seems like the server crashed before recent changes were written to the map file. Anything which uses their own files (like Enderchests) may have been saved though which would explain the inconsistencies. Alex will surely look into the log-files tomorrow :|

I understand. 3 points
1. Its annoying to lose my stuff because of server glitches
Although it wasnt too much valuable (minecart, stack of birch wood,
stack of cobble/dirt, around 40 torches, food, etc)
I havent died, so I dont think that I deserve to lose that.
2. What if some files werent left in consistent state? I.e. damaged.
Or, contents of one file doesnt correspond to contents of other?
What if, for example, we would encounter some lost chunks?
After some time? Several days, month?
What if damaged files would be cause of more server crashes in future?
I dont think that minecraft behave to its world files like a database:
ACID rules, transactions, commits/rollbacks, etc.
3. Should I expect a rollback? If you are going to rollback world, I wouldnt
do anything now. Anyway, it would be lost.

it has nothing to do with chests
server crashed when i was in nether, hunting skeletons. actually those bone-figures with swords. i accidentally hit a skeleton and poof. there is now no way to revert changes. some things have changed, some not. i'll add an auto save-all feature. hopefully this won't happen soon, i apologize for my inconvenience. i will investigate on this.

Reminds me of pretty common save failure / crash issues that happened before. All map properties do save (such as blocks, chest contents, block properties), but all player properties did not (such as location, level, health, hunger, inventory)

What happened with coi's tool that provided rollbacks? .=

When the server crashed, all the worlds did not manage to save so when u went back online, the server was set up from the previous save point. its happened on my friends server alot of times be4. its was no hacker
