The LK-05 Advanced Carbine

Post by pilau » Sun 04 Aug , 2013 8:27 pm

The LK-05 has a very fast (perceived?) firing rate, a large (32 rounds) magazine and an additional 90 rounds only for stock. Compare that with the (magnificently balanced) S-AR with a similar fire rate, an initial 120 rounds in stock and another 40 in the first magazine.

Just because the S-AR has 4 magazines total (1 loaded and another 3 extra) doesn't mean the LK must have 4 too. I think five magazines (130 rounds total) allows for greater reliability with this rifle, especially in Loadout gameplay.

As an aspect of balance, the reserve ammo for most weapons is kept consistent at 3 magazines. However, one of the S-AR's advantages is that it has high capacity magazines, which is why its reserve ammo is so large.

Considering the LK's fast firing rate, don't you think it is considerably handicapped, and therefore an unattractive choice for weapon?

I don't think it's handicapped at all. Look at the bwstats screen for more info on it.

No it's underpowered, I just use it because it increases the challenge

troll2

But without dragging a balance topic into shitposting, I think the LK-05 is fine compared to other rifles. No scope is annoying at times, but it'd be OP with one.

I agree it would be OP with a scope.

I will have a look at the weapon stats again. Thanks for your input guys.

Its a bit OP when you use it in burst mode compared to all other Assault weapons. I mean, form Hip the expansion rate increases per shot, but when you use the burst the increase is minimized, or reduced (severely). Using LK in burst mode allows you to aim, and shoot most all the bullets to the point you aimed, and because of the fast rate and low expansion from the Hip, you will do far more damage. The weapon is superior than most other assault weapons when you use it from the hip and in bursts. If, in other hand, you just discharge the full mag in auto, you'll be lucky if you hit the wall in the back ....
I'll post some more on the balance in a different topic... soon... (=
