Map with invisible wall for monster

Post by Jester » Tue 27 Aug , 2013 7:26 pm

I don't know where to post this so I decided to create a new subject.

On the Helmzdeep map, there's an invisible wall for monster. You can shoot on them but they can't shoot on you (their fire is stopped but not yours).

I don't know if it's allowed to stay on a place like this (I hope the answer'll be "No" cause it gives free xp D=).

I give a screen to fix it (if possible).

Those areas are obviously out of the map bounds (not usually reachable), so you shouldn't be shooting from there.

Actually, you can reach this area if you get the "fly artifact". I'll try to record & downloading this map to show more.

Generally speaking, from a gameplay point of view, if you cannot get there without translocator, unintended shield jumping, or flying with this artifact, then it's out of bounds.

The translocator was fixed recently to stop you going to areas like this, I guess the flying artifact got overlooked.

Besides, as you say - it's free exp, so this is an exploit and if abused would be a 3 day ban.

If you cannot be hurt by the monsters but you can hurt them, then it is an obvious exploit and should be banned.

That's just regular glitching. Ban.

Maybe, adding an invisible wall to prevent people to go there ? .=

Btw, I downloaded the map to show that place (only to solve this glitching place).

Last question: If I find a place like this, can I record/screen it then submit on this subject to resolve it ? No more glitchers who'll have easy points if I do so.. troll2

The fly artifact and the magnet artifact need to be discussed. Obviously the solution given for the Translocator (only teleports if within 768 UU of a NavigationPoint) isn't feasible for these two abilities, because there are legitimate uses for both which involve being out of range of a NavigationPoint. Bear in mind that I am eager to work towards removing all of the remaining easy mode options left in the game.

And about putting invisible wall to prevent players to go on these easy safe spots ? It'll be easier than making a solution for magnet/flying artifact, no ?

Actually, no. The trans solution solved a lot of problems with only a few lines of code. Meanwhile, patching every map is a lot of bother for me.
