Modeling for Nubs. Simple but really shit and pointless

Re: Model Showcase.
I'm not an expert in such kind of modelling but from my experience in numerical calculations and mesh generation your mesh looks awful. Your polygons are not nicely shaped, with too many sharp angles. This just looks like a set of vertices which are connected by lines without imposing any set of constraints. Here is an example for a "nice" mesh. This is from an ocean transport model with adaptive mesh refinement near the Mururoa atoll. You'll notice the huge difference compared to your mesh if you look at the angles of the polygons.

Topology is the least of his problems at the moment.

It reminds me a lot like fractals. I agree with your outlook, but take it easy on Derp, he's just starting out on modellingPinky wrote:I'm not an expert in such kind of modelling but from my experience in numerical calculations and mesh generation your mesh looks awful. Besides, his models don't need to be even remotely as poly-rich as your example, he's only making weapon models for UT2004.

I should probably add that I find Milkshape so abrasively difficult to use that I always export through to Blender.

Just export the milkshape model as something that blender can import, then export.Azarael wrote:I should probably add that I find Milkshape so abrasively difficult to use that I always export through to Blender.

Isn't that what he said he does?DerpXD47 wrote:Just export the milkshape model as something that blender can import, then export.Azarael wrote:I should probably add that I find Milkshape so abrasively difficult to use that I always export through to Blender.

Yeah he wanted to say that he finds "Milkshape" difficult to use, not the exporting to be difficult.

Re: Model Showcase.
Just for info, which programs can you use for modeling? besides the milkshape and bender...
Maya, ProEng, Catia, Rhinocerous, ... other? which formats shall you use for the 3D model?

Re: Model Showcase.
Seems to be a lot of modellers, or at least people who are interested in it.
