Actually, I think even you supported the removal...

If the maps are voted is because there are people that like them. Maybe a better option is to not show the amount of votes the maps have, but only the maps that have votes, then the people could just vote for the one that they like and not against the one they dislike. Also it will diminish the votes for popularity, i.e. "I voted for X because everybody is voting for it!" ...
