New Mouse - what does everyone set theirs up to do

Post by Satin » Wed 23 Oct , 2013 2:25 pm

I've just got a new whizzy mouse ,which has 2 extra buttons on the side, I'm curious as to what people might assign their mouse buttons to do.

My old (2 button mouse was set up to:
LM fire, scroll wheel click Secondary fire, scroll wheel up/down select weapon
RM to double jump or dodge or something.

5 button mouse might be:
LM fire, RM Secondary, scroll wheel select weapon , Scroll click: not sure
Extra button 1, dodge, Extra button 2 : DPI toggle (possibly)

-------------

What do you all gamer mice type do ?
BTW, my new mouse is a Razer DeathAdder 2013 (weird names these have lol) and its really quite big for my hands.

The dodge button assign, was because I used to do a lot of IVCTF/VCTF and you needed to dodge a lot to stay alive, now I'm more Invasion focused that may not be as necessary.

I use the default settings aka LM = Prim Fire, RM = Alt Fire, Mousewheel up/down = select weapon. I dont use my two extra buttons for UT. Theyre just for next track / previous track in iTunes lol

I set my forward and back buttons to switch weapons forward is lg and back is shock/flak

I also have 2 more buttons above those that I use for voice chat things.

I love having buttons on my mouse.

MM: weapon select
M4: push to talk / reload trollface
M5: wep special
and then three different DPI sensitivity settings for short/mid/long range combat.

For BW only (not normal UT):

Primary Mouse=Fire
Secondary Mouse=ScopeView|OnRelease ScopeViewRelease (Sights)
Middle Mouse=SwitchWeaponMode|OnRelease WeaponModeRelease (Wep mode)
Side Mouse4=Mutate BStartSprint|OnRelease Mutate BStopSprint (Sprint)
Side Mouse5=AltFire (Alt Fire)

I play left-handed on an ambidextrous Razer Taipan mouse. I could never get the hang of in-game DPI adjustment, despite having the 2 top buttons to do it.

I also turned the scroll-wheel weapon select thing off, in the menus, because it is slow and distracting. I use key binds instead (around my direction keys).

For BW only (not normal UT also):

Primary Mouse=Fire
Secondary Mouse=AltFire
Mouse scroll Wheel= change weapons up/down
Middle Mouse=Switchprefferedweapon
Side Mouse4=ScopeView(Sights)
Side Mouse5=KS

I use a Razer Naga mouse so I have another 12 buttons in the side ^^ . ;B 1-9 assigned to weapons which I don't use it often cause of different position of the weapons depending the loadout, The only ones I use are with 1 as sidearm and 2 Melee. (I have them mixed cause sometimes I pressed by accident in combat and changed to a Melee instead, not so good in middle range)
10-12 are Weapon mode ,Weapon special and Reload.

Thanks for that, I'm now using:

LM: primary fire
RM: alt fire
Scroll wheel : weapon select
Extra Mouse1: Reload
Extra Mouse2: DPI clutch (if held down makes dpi 400 for more precise sniping)

Not sure what to put (if anything) on scroll click button though.
