Should this be enforced given that the game is rated "M", players routinely swear and some of the taunts have "off-color commentary"?

I actually releived that rule a while ago, with "at bay" i.e to give it some limit of common sense, not to forbid it completely (that's pretty much retarded to do so). No need to have a care about game rating.

Case is that a player was using the names "Gangbang" and "Double Penetration", and I refused to do anything about it. I was pointed to the rule and felt forced to act.

Don't see a problem in that at all. What would I see as too much is a long talk about porn or one case at our former Constructor server - where the public area was full of penises etc. (Takeo raged and there is a quote from that in my chatlog.)

This just looks like someone causing trouble for no reason (the offense at the name, not the using of it).

People use terms such as this in online gaming all the time. "lol we got raped" for example, the terminology is offensive if compared with the actual definition, but when you use that in a gaming environment seriousness goes out of the window.

I've seen the word gangbang used here before too, when people are killed by a group of the other team. So why is it all of a sudden taboo?

The very fact you did not enforce the rule until you were highlighted of it shows how ludicrous the rule is. The flagrant racism in the chat which goes unpunished is worse than the name 'gangbang'.

My interpretation is the rule is valid the conversation verges to extremes such as child abuse or similar areas.
