DM-Highlander2k14

Post by iRobot » Sun 05 Jan , 2014 6:05 pm

Hello friends,

Posting this on behalf of Vanico who will be working on improving this map in the near future. Anyway since we all enjoy Highlander so much, team kindergarten of hate are brainstorming ways of improving this map to make it even better, after the whitewash of success that was Aztec2k14.

Please post below any ideas you have about the new improved version of the map.

We look forward to implementing your ideas.

The current target area for change are the mountain ring around the edge of the map and the tunnel section underneath the courtyard.

I think we should prevent access to the mountains on the edge of the map as they;

a) do not improve gameplay
b) only serve as places to hide / waste time (a key factor in highlander lasting 1hr)
c) are not necessary for the map

Whether this would be achieved by invisible walls or just altering the terrain to be more steep is to be decided.

Awesome idea
Lets make other big maps also smaller and more spamable.

- The whole outside area of Tibet and Helmzdeep
- The floors of Osiris, Observatory and Blackhawk
- Goadswood would also be nice fighting only in the little village
- Dont forget to delete PineRidge or ForestofLostSouls

Beside that, lets remove all long range weapons and switch all to close combat spa* ups, sorry weapons

I'm not a fan of that idea either but I'd still like to improve the outside area in a way that discourages players from stalling. Adding some stuff, ruins maybe, to allow approaching an enemy in the mountains without being seen immediately while making it harder to hide from people observing the mountains.

The areas you suggest are all key parts to their respective maps. The outer ring on Highlander is not used in common gameplay, and therefore not many at all go there, which in turn makes it more effective at time wasting for those who do.

I appreciate that our ideas might not be welcome by all, which is why I figured some feedback would be good.

without the hills as a counterbalance to the central tower you just have a second UrbanHotzone...

The issue with UHZ is that a team spawns at the top. This is not the case for Highlander.

Roof sniping is already vulnerable due to the jump on the ledges required to get into position, plus the knockback from hits below. Hills play little part in balancing the tower.

i agree with gizmodo, you don't need to change highlander. Besides, it's not as if you cannot snipe those on the hills.
