Pineapple cooking.

Post by Azarael » Sat 08 Mar , 2014 1:25 pm

Recently an ugly old strategy from the Ballistic V2.0 days has resurfaced: cooking pineapples until they've almost exploded and then throwing them directly into the enemy's face from short range. While this was one of the only real ways to actually kill anyone back in Ballistic V2.0, it's incredibly cheap now, because you mostly oneshot while retaining your full movement. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas for dealing with it.
  • Lower pine damage and limit 3 might seem obvious, but will just lead to pine spamming and guaranteed damage
  • Having the grenade dropped if you're hit while cooking it would affect other grenades
  • Removing the ability to cook pineapples kills legitimate uses at range
  • Preventing explosion before a bounce does the same
  • Making throws inaccurate on the move doesn't help because it's done at close range
  • Counting held throws as "aimed" doesn't help because they cook and then just tap Fire
Anyone got any ideas on how to stop this?

Not my game type but in real life grenades fuses are not always perfect and sometimes they detonate prematurely..

Might want to consider doing some thing like random detonate time. That way it makes it risky to cook grenades.

That's an idea.

Hamfisted but maybe make the minimum detonation time 2 seconds after throwing, regardless of cooking.

Doesn't affect range usage and short range is still possible, just not as free.

Maybe you should just lower the damage. Did you think having a grenade that can do 200 damage would be a good idea?

Lower damage to 115 and in exchange increase explosion radius without increasing pine starting amount. So yeah, turn it into something supportive.

I did it. Can you?

If you coocking grenade and get hit, it will either explode in your hand if hit or you drop it (ater receiving some damage), you can also add some randomness to the fuse here.

Lowering damage will result in almost usless grenade. Maybe lowering damage from direct impact only.

Umm maybe bigger radius and -20 dmg? But reduce dmg on radius too so you you dont get full dmg when stand enough far away.

I like the idea of it going bang if you get shot while cookin it.

It stops suicide kamikaze (people running toward you while cooking) and also stops people bunny hoppin around while cookin for a close range kill (the original annoyance of the topic)
