Pending deletion of the HMC

I'm going to declare this one in advance. The HMC is pending deletion from the game for the following reasons:

1) Targeted healing is now better done by Le Big XOXO, which has the capability to lock-on to allies.
2) The Tractor and Repulsor beams as they are now are broken concepts. When being pulled by the tractor beam, you're a guaranteed kill because you're rendered unable to aim. When being pushed by the beam, you can't aim and can get stuck in a corner and owned. A forthcoming weapon will have the single-shot ability to pull a player to you (or you to another player).
3) A healing beam makes much less sense than the XOXO's healing stream.
4) It doesn't fit since all its modes are hip accurate.
5) The artwork. It's not unique (being an edit of the RX22A) and its assets consume 11MB of the related texture file.

Nothing against removing it. In poor hands the effect is too underwhelming to warrant a slot and in good hands the pull/push is so pronounced that for reasons stated, you can't defend.

I see no reason to defend HMC anymore either. It's time to let go of it and wait for its Spartan Laser-esque successor.

What damage does the primary even do? Does it vary with mode?

It always seemed underwhelming considering you needed to charge it.

I'll be a little sad to see it go, but I had real trouble coming up with a reasonable role for it too.

I think that the HMC should be removed.
But... while we are on the topic, I would like to suggest a new HMC which may be of interest!
Does anyone remember this off the Moddb Ballistic weapons page?

If the Primary fire mode was to act like the plasma cannons but with a charge (Like the HMC). This means it has a little explosion if it hits the ground and misses the player; If the Alt fire was to remove the 2 fire modes to push and pull, it would just be left with the healing beam (which could just be known as the "Beam")
I remember looking at this for the first time and not knowing what it was or where to get it. just consider this before you remove the HMC forever

Yeah, I remember this one. From what I can recall, this cannon was supposed to be a replacement model for the HVPC plasma cannon and/or BFG 9000 killstreak weapons (remember the despair and sadness they caused, too?). After their removal, this model seemed to be forgotten in the shadows. There was also the discussion about finding a replacement model for the HMC one or two years ago, but nothing deemed eligible except the Phantom HVPC model and the topic drifted slowly away for some unknown reason, leaving HMC as it is. Correct me if I'm wrong.
