Can just add a novice bot and name it Calypto, that's one done already!Calypto wrote:Server bots with names of LDG administrators, each having customized personality based on the administrator.

I know that you would utterly hate this Idea But Donators should have their own "empty server" bots with customized personality and the choice of their own skin in use

I know this has nothing to do with the topic but, its not hard to do

I don't think that will help increase the playercount.Ollievrthecool wrote:iRobot wrote:Can just add a novice bot and name it Calypto, that's one done already!Calypto wrote:Server bots with names of LDG administrators, each having customized personality based on the administrator.

I Agree 110% on picking on other Players cause we are not Pros Be Real Ping .So Many Factors its UnrealiRobot wrote:Some potential contributing factors, including, but not limited to:
Attacking weaker players all the time;
Forcing them to aim when they either don't want to or are not comfortable doing so. Belittling people for their weapon choices. Grading people as spammers or shitters because they play differently. Perhaps let them play as they please.
Skill system;
Well documented, but to restate, ‘in your face’ reminders about how good/bad you are at the game doesn’t really achieve much other than de-motivating you. Once again, stating intent at removing any visible presence in game or on forum.
Map changes;
Removal of ‘popular locations’ on maps, and map changes in general. Particularly on community favourites. Maybe revert these changes – such as Osiris?
Lack of updates;
New weapons keep it fresh. This is completely at mercy of the few dedicated individuals who are creating content for free – so while it’s unfair to be unhappy at the pace, people want new things. Maybe introduce some of the previously ‘cut’ weapons.
Voting weights;
People unable to vote certain maps when they want. Possibly due to the repeat limit / excessive weighting on some choices. Reduce repeat limit perhaps?
Overzealous staff;
Not giving examples, but insta-mutes and insta-bans for relatively weak offenses does nothing to help the feel of a friendly community.
Robot playing less;
I've been pre-occupied with Diablo 3 a lot lately so maybe play one or two games a week when I'm bored. People not being able to see the legend himself is probably pushing people away.
one of these isnt serious

How do you make better weapons for the average player? What is preventing it from being a better weapon for better players? This is the difficult part. There is no easy way to make a weapon better only if its used by a less skilled player without making the better players even better with it.Michie wrote:How about better Weapons for the Avg Player ? I would seriously like to hear some suggestions. We have been trying to implement new weapons that allow players to contribute to the game in ways beyond killing the enemy as fast as possible, because the player that's able to land more hits and dodge more hits in a straight exchange of damage would always be the victor.
To be honest I sort of like the idea of a loadout choice that gives you a higher base health at the expense of being able to dodge and possibly double jump. It'd give players a nice risk/reward choice, full mobility makes you a lot harder to hit and lets you escape quickly if you utilize it all the time, but having more health is helpful without any extra effort on your part, it just doesn't have any advanced ways to utilize it.Michie wrote:Understand most Bounce around like Rabbits. Re: Decreasing playerbase
"The Average Player" already does get better guns though, and earlier.
Michie needs 2 kills in a row for a KS1 weapon. I need 4 in a row.

Even for me, 9 kills without dying is a challenge. You however could fairly easily get 4 kills if you had a good line of sight.

Re: Decreasing playerbase
When a lower skilled player gets killed by a sniped headshot, they might shrug their shoulders and think "nice shot - a justified kill". But when they get killed by PM spray, or LH (currently too fast to dodge, and can kill at distance even around a corner) they may think "I was spammed - unfair" which is a negative experience.
Or...perhaps it's just the holiday season and they're all outside wearing shorts while drunk.

When you say the LH is too fast to dodge, could you be more specific about what's causing the problem? Is it the manual mode?
On the topic of better guns for weaker players - what you're actually asking me to do is unbalance the game. Whatever approach is taken the game becomes unbalanced - you either have a raw overpowered weapon that anyone can use, or you overpower a weapon at a certain level of skill, thus leading to overprevalence of that weapon among players of that level of skill and below, better players having a lesser result against players whoring that weapon, and the complete antithesis of this mod - total loss of weapon variance.
The PROPER way to do this would be to contract the skill curve such that the game is easier to pick up - but given that the base of this mod is UT2004, which was designed to be a high skill FPS...
