Re: Skill system
Despite all the discussions that are taking place here, you are forgetting about the big elephant in the room... me.
Alright, it's been more than 150 hours since you decided to "de-rank" me.
So I ask you now, why are you still hesitating in re-joining me?
(And yes, I do take some pride in being recognized as the #2 player on the BW server.)
THANKS.

Re: Skill system
The reason was stated above: there isn't belief you actually are 2nd player on the server when you don't challenge the other skilled players; and you will not be ranked back until the skill system will compensate such. Either way, top player screen is going to get nuked regardless of the result in the poll.
As for skill itself, I'm not convinced by the poll for hiding it completely. Nuking the top players tab & ability for players to hide their own skill (which is already possible, hit F5 during Freon and see menu) seems to be enough. So considering the "top 10 players" screen nuked, I would like to know why the people voted for hiding it (also a bit given based on that many of the people didn't use the option to hide their skill).

Wasn't Aza the 2nd player, even before this change?justaman wrote:Despite all the discussions that are taking place here, you are forgetting about the big elephant in the room... me.

Anyway, add him back Izumo, it's unfair to punish someone like this when it's your system that takes blanket K/D's into account.
I personally opted to hide it because I think being labeled with a number really takes away from the social interactions on the server.

Re: Skill system
The system works fine provided that players play during peak time.

Re: Skill system
Other games with ELO style systems do not take 'peak hours' into account so to do so here is just laughable.
If he can only play during those times then it's done. A kill is a kill. What's next, will you discredit kills on noobs during peak times?

Re: Skill system
What made you think this was an ELO system? This system does not take into account the skill of the enemy and I'd love to hear any efficient solution to that. Unlike in, for example, RTS matchmaking or 1on1 games, the person who kills you is not necessarily the person who deserves the credit.

Re: Skill system
Did I not clarify to you that I am MORE THAN WILLING to play against any opposition?
Add to that, the 100's of matches that I have won fair & square!
It is laughable that I am being "punished" for the shortcomings that are present in your systems.
I've spent months reaching this stage (yes, #2) and it got taken away in an instant.
I ask you again; it is only fair that you return me.

Re: Skill system
Your inclination to play against any opposition has already been noted; I'd never deny that. They're acting because of the times you play at.

Re: Skill system
It's an ELO style system in that by killing someone you're taking skillpoints from them and adding it indirectly to your own totals. I know it's not an actual ELO system..Azarael wrote:What made you think this was an ELO system?
