Post by smalltown » Thu 14 Mar , 2013 10:39 pm

I just want to know what graphic card you guys have because I want to buy a new one for gaming. It will probably be a next gen graphic card that support 4k monitors that is ultra hd.Any suggestions on if I will have to wait till next year (2014) to buy one which will be moar than consoles graphics which are being released at the end of the year or just buy the most powerful one at the moment which will last for some years(atleast 2-3)?

GTX 690 sounds like it'll suit your needs very well

Welcome in 2013 troll2

Console graphics have always been under that what a PC can offer (I don't mean that console graphics are not beautiful, just that a PC with a good graphic card can do a lot better).

Also what is your budget? The most powerful graphic card is usually around 500-600€
Its all about the game, and how you play it
All about control, and if you can take it
All about your debt, and if you can payit
Its all about pain and whos gonna make it...

Actually for high-res AMD has better suited pricing, because even Radeon HD 7970 (GTX 680 equivalent in terms of GPU performance) has 6 GB RAM. But current generation GTX 690 (or GTX TITAN with 6 GB RAM) doesn't have AMD equivalent yet and certainly will be very expensive (prepare 1000€) until AMD shows its new gen cards. At this point, I'd probably wait for next gen Radeons.

And yes, as Bono says, consoles are far behind PC now, and will always be (well, the price, clearly).

Oh, and of course, if you want to wait a years, then any suggestions are irrelevant now as nobody know how the GPUs will do next year.

As you can see from my signature i have a 680 gtx and I run a 2560x1440 on one monitor and a 1920x1080 on my other monitor. If you really want to go to 4 screens(why on earth would you need to?!) i would recommend getting two gtx cards from the nvideas 600 series and you should be set. Just make sure you read the reviews on the card your looking as some manufactures are better then others.

Side note/edit: noticed you said your thinking about buying in 2014. Depending on what time in 2014 these recommendations will be outdated as chances are something new and exciting will come out and blow everything away in that time.

2x Hd 7970 in crossfire can not give that 6 gb ram that u said it only get two gpu's instead of one,the video ram is neither doubled nor tripled when triple sli or cf.

I have a sufficient budget to buy a gaming rig with a high end graphic card!(can afford a GTX 690 but two gpu on one card and if I get another one it's quad- sli.)

On some benchmarking tests the GTX titan( had good fps on crysis 3) seems a good choice prior to the 690 which is a bit outdated but still the fastest graphic card on the market!

The RAM doubles with CF as well and single card HD 7970 has 6 GB, so in CF you'll get 12 GB, though I think 6 GB is sufficient for that.

Ah I did not noticed there is also a toxic version of that particular card.
