The time is ticking!

What is this? A timer? What would it count down to? Find out yourself at what date this timer goes, and use your memory!

(if it does not work, could a forum mod/admin please enable HTML on it? Thanks in advance).

The Messier object M4 rises above the horizon in Irkutsk, Russia (assuming the timer shows Universal Time / GMT)

And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.

Yes, it's in GMT, no, it's not that.

With HTML display, it's more noticable.

The Astronomical Almanac says otherwise - this is exactly what will happen when the timer runs out

20/12/2012 00:00:00 @ GMT, simply a nice date we won't see for a while after that.

But also six days off of Christmas if you're into that kind of stuff.

If you mean the end of the world then the timer is off by more than 11 hours. The Mayans didn't know anything about GMT - their calendar was based on astronomic events. There is a special one occurring that day, but not at 0:00 GMT :)
